ONE – patient-matched solution

The ONE solution is a patient-matched cutting guides solution to support the surgeons in 2D and 3D planning.

The ONE solution was initiated by a thesis in 2014 on “Pre-operative planning for osteotomies around the knee – From a three dimensional numerical model to the industrialization of a patient-specific guide” and was motivated by renewed interest for valgus correction tibial osteotomy. The aim of this thesis was to understand the challenges involved in this surgery by making it safer and more reliable. Thus Newclip Technics worked in close collaboration with orthopedic surgeons in order to better understand their concerns problems. That is how the ONE solution was marketed in 2017 for osteotomies around the knee.

Since then, the ONE range has been expanded to all lower and upper limb osteotomy indications.

Advantages
OF ONE solution

1. Precision

Solution ONE provides precision of :

  • The position of cut
  • the correction
  • the position of plate

2. Security

Solution ONE secures :

  • The hinge, especially in the case of lower limb osteotomies
  • Soft tissues, such as the patellar tendon during osteotomies of the tibia

3. Reduce operative time

The ONE Solution reduces operative time when the learning curve has been attained, throught :

  • The preoperative planification of the correction, the position of the plate
  • the drilling guidance of the holes
  • The planned lenghts of the screws

All the steps of the surgery are summarize in the surgical technique sent with the patient-matched cutting guide.

4. Decrease in the number of fluoroscopy shots

The ONE Solution reduces the number of fluoroscopies shots during surgery

  • Two fluoroscopies to validate the position of the guide
  • An optimal fluoroscopy shot to check the cut’s depth
  • Two fluoroscopies to validate the final assembly

5. Adaptable

The ONE Solution is customized with a certain number of options :

  • Patient-specific wedge
  • Ligamentoplasty tunnel
  • Cutting slot for biplanar cut
  • A TTA elevation guide
  • A femoral head cutting guide
  • An iliac crest head cutting guide
  • A bone substitute cutting guide
  • 3D Pre-operative bone
  • 3D Post-operative bone

ONE timeline

Start of the process : Creation of case on platform.

To order a patient-matched cutting guide, you must order it through the reservation platform.

To start a case, the following information are mandatory :

  • A CT-scan according to the Newclip protocol;
  • The operative side
  • The type of surgery

The following information may be communicated later :

  • The requested correction
  • The date of surgery
  • The desired plate
  • The requested options

Review of the case

Once submitted, the case will be reviewed by Newclip Technics to verify the compliance with Newclip protocol :

  • The patient data (consistent between the CT scan and the platform)
  • CT scan in DICOM format
  • The quality of the CT scan
  • The thickness of the slices

From the first simulation to the validation

Once the case has been accepted, you will received an first simulation file (measurements and/or simulation of correction).

You have to validate each part of the simulation or ask for modification of :

  • The position of the cut
  • The correction in the 3 planes
  • The position of the plate
  • The choice of the plate
  • The different options if requested

Design of the guide, printing and shipping

Once you validate the simulation file, the team can then design the patient-matched cutting guide and associated options.

It will be printed, cleaned and then sent non-sterile.

Surgery

On the day of the surgery you will have :

  • The standard kit containing the plate required
  • The patient-matched cutting guide
  • Options requested
  • The standard instruments associated to the guide
  • The surgical technique
  • A surgical assistance (if desired)
